Starting off the 365 day photo challenge with a photo of my baby girl, Daisy.
I am a working woman now. For a while I was losing hope on getting the job I wanted but I got lucky. The Best Friends doggie daycare manager called me about a week ago and scheduled an interview with me. I was so excited. Of course I told my mom and everyone right away. I couldnt contain my happiness. The interview went well and the official day I got hired was November 18. Yesterday was my first day at work and it was great but it took a good bite at me.
I had to wake up at 6 am to get ready for work at 7. That wasnt easy to do because I am not a morning person but I did what I had to do. For the first day I trained with a very nice lady. Its great because everyone there is friendly and nice. I learned everything pretty quickly that I have to do as a kennel worker. Feeding, washing, scrubbing and everything else that I have to do with the cats and dogs. Its a good job for me because its all physical work so I stay busy and happy. Plus, I get to be around dogs all day. Nothing better than that to me.
My first work day was good until I encountered one dog. Best Friends takes in rescue dogs at times so they have a place to stay. So, the lady opened the dogs cage door slightly to put food in and the dog squeezed out. I should of listened to my gut feeling when I heard that pit bull bark aggressively at me earlier. I knew that was no fear bark but my mind was telling me why would a dog at a doggie daycare ever be fully aggressive like that. So, when the dog got out it ran over and attacked me right away. Start to attack my legs and then start to go for my arms. All I did while the girl was trying to get the pit bull away from me was trying to keep myself standing because I knew if the dog brought me down I would be dead meat. It felt like forever before the lady pulled the dog off me but thank goodness she was there with me. Thats right, I survived being attacked by a pit bull.
The pit bull took some good bites at me which meant I had to get a few stitches. Let me tell you, the dog attack was not the most painful part. The after math was the hardest pain to deal with. First, I was taken to a medical center where they cleaned the wounds and checked it out. I started to freak when the doctor touched the bite on my wrist. She was worried it might have affected my nerves and bones there so she sent me to the emergency room. Guess where they put this nineteen year old? In the pediatric area which I am not complaining about. I do better with nice, caring doctors and nurses. I connected well with the doctor and nurses who worked with me so I wasnt a meany to them. They took x-rays of my wrist to make sure nothing was damaged. Luckily everything was in the right place. The next experience in the ER was the worst. Getting my wounds flushed out hurt like a….!!! Really really painful. Couldnt contain my tears and was ready to just run out of there. But I stayed and dealt with the pain like the tough gal I am. Next, they put some stitches in which is the first time I ever got them. Lastly, they put some ointment on and band aids. Now I am home healing. In lits of pain but handling it well. Its hard to do anything because I am right handed and thats the arm the dog decided to chomp at.
I cant go back to work for about a week. I am in a lot of pain and cant risk making it worse. Now I wont fear anything at work. Thats right, being attacked by a pit bull did not make me want to quit my job. It actually shows I can handle the good and the bad of working with dogs. This attack didnt put any fear in me towards dogs. I was born a dog lover and thats the way I will be for eternity.

Friday was beautiful so I spent some of the afternoon with my three dogs.
This weekend is Regatta weekend at the lake where our cabin is at. They have boat races, different competitions and entertainment. I like to watch some of it but there is one activity I participate in. Got any clue what it might be? The pet parade! That consists of dressing up your pets in the best outfit to try and win. As you can see I spent my afternoon grooming Oliver. He needed it badly and he is going to be in the pet parade this weekend. Guess what he is going to be. Just look at him and think about it. I will tell you after the parade when I have some photos.
A few days ago I had to finish a photography project for my photo class at school. The project was to photograph like a professional photographer and I chose William Wegman. You must know his work. He is the guy who photographs his weimeraners in clothes and make them have human characteristics. His dogs have been in books, galleries and on television.
I chose Princess as my model since she is most cooperative and has the most patience. Besides trying to lay down all the time she was a very good girl. Here are a few photos of her that are some of my favorite. I took so many and the rest will be on my flickr. To me she is better than the weimeraners but that is also because she is my Princess.
I spent my Saturday at the dog park with Princess and Oliver because the weather was too good to waste inside. Plus, we were all getting cabin fever from the winter. I brought my camera with me but I did not take many photos but I did capture some good shots. In the above photo Princess was playing with the pugs. The dog park is always popular with pugs.
The pugs liked Princess today. Especially, one of them. He followed her around and sat with her. it was cute. Except, Oliver was not fond of him. He never seems to really like pugs.
Thought this was a pretty neat photo. Almost looks like the dog was going to run into Princess. I dont recommend it because she is one sturdy dog that can not be pushed down.
It looks like Princess has no feet on the ground. She was trying to get over the pug. Acrobat dog.
Oliver was challenged by this dog but Oliver did not want to play with him.
Oliver played around with this adorable schnauzer for a little while. They played well together.
Now, there is a dog park face. Happy to be there. A very cute dog and I love the bandana!
So, we had a blast today at the dog park. Lady did not come with us because she has attitude with other dogs and does not know how to play right. She prefers to be home anyways. I bet Oliver and Princess will sleep well tonight!
It was more like Princess sneaks into school. So, yesterday I did not go to my technical school in the afternoon and two of my friends decided to spend time with me. The three of us walked to my house and of course Oliver and Lady were wary of them and barked but Princess was all friendly. Her face is so irresistable and loving. I decided I would walk back to school with them and take Princess to surprise my mom when she came to pick me up. When we got back to the school I thought it would be fun to sneak Princess in to meet my favorite counselor. Its Princess. My girl. The dog I always am talking about.
The challenge was how do I get this twenty five pound dog in the school without getting in trouble. So, I took my hoodie off and dressed her up in it. Princess looked like she was from da hood! It was cute and funny. She cooperated and just stayed still until i got in my counselors office. Princess has a lot of patience. Of course everyone there loved her. How can you not. She got smothered with love and she loved it. The best part was I told my mom to come to the counselors office so I could surprise her. First she thought it was someone else’s dog but then realized it was Princess. She was happy and confused about seeing Princess there.
I always wanted to bring Princess at least once into the school to meet my counselor since she loves animals. So, Princess and I accomplished that yesterday, If it was allowed I would bring Princess with me everyday and all day long but its not. She is my therapy dog. Helps me when I am down and is always there for me to hug and hold. I hope you all are staying snuggly warm in this cold weather and having a lovely fun weekend.
It snowed all day yesterday which gave us 3-5 inches of beautiful white snow to play in. Lets just say the dogs had a blast romping around, while I froze my tush off. Since the dogs felt like running and jumping through the snow I grabbed my camera and starting photographing the acttion…
There goes Oliver starting the playtime by getting lady to chase him. Look at that boy jump!
Lady is the least fond of snow so she just plays for a few minutes and then stands on the porch to watch. Doesnt she look cute in the christmas collar?
Oliver just kept jumping over that branch as if it was no difficulty. He would be so good at agility if he could keep focus for more than a second.
Oliver zooming by to see how fast he can go. Go Oliver go!
Oliver takes his jumping moves all over her. She stands strong.
Princess tries to bring Oliver to the ground. She fails.
Next, Oliver turns and slows down the Princess with his skilled moves.
Since Princess is middle aged the two opponents decided to take a quick break together before turning against each other.
Oliver stretching and showing off his cute Christmas shirt that says fleas navidad.
Look at that messy snowy face he has. Thats a face of fun.
Before going after Princess Oliver decided to see if Lady wants to join in…she refuses.
Now look at Princess’ face. She is showing off all the snow on her face. She wants to win the contest of most snow on face. You win girl!
Oliver trying to shove Princess out of the way because he thinks he has the better singing voice. I will let Lady decide on that one.
Oliver got what he wanted. He got Princess after him again. The challenge is back on.
Both standing strong. Who will take out who?
A cropped version of the phoot above. You can see how serious Oliver is about winning. Making sure Princess wont pass him.
Ah, and Princess won the race! Dont worry Oliver there is always next time.
Yoda Princess romping around to celebrate.
Princess is hoping you all enjoyed the action and photos.
Stay tuned for the next challenge when the dogs decide to romp around again.
Peace.
