It’s one of those place where I think HDR photography would work pretty well. The easiest would be to take bracketing shots (I think the best here would be 0.7 stops or maybe even 0.3 stop would work – not sure about it). I guess you took metering of the green area before releasing the shutter and that’s why the area closer to you is so dark 🙂
